There that is.

This is the question I want to ask of every human being on the planet.

Well, one of them. Of course, I'd like to know their favourite thing about Jesus, and the story of what He has done in them, and lots of other glorious tales as well. But once all those things are settled, I am itching to ask one thing:

What are the five books you would recommend I read before I die? (And, why?)

So, do tell!

(An aside: As deeply as I appreciate your wittiness, let me clarify that I already have read and continue to read the Bible. It's as necessary as water. So, after the Bible, what are your top five literary pleasures?)

"23 Minutes in Hell" by Bill Weise. reason? one of the quotes from the book explains very well. "If we as Christians TRULY believed in Hell, we'd be on our knees begging people to come to know Christ."
"You May All Prophesy" by Steve Thompson. reason? PHENOMENAL book on learning about prophecy. Also great to learn all the ways God speaks to us and uses us for the good of others.
"The Final Quest" series by Rick Joyner. reason? best metaphor for spiritual warfare and Christian living I've ever come across in my life. Definitely life changing.
"How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. reason? learn how people think and how to deal with people in every situation. crazy amazing.
just thought i'd drop in a say. :D

"Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. Reason - I almost never ever cry at the end of books and I was in tears and couldn't put it down. It was so moving.

Tale of Three Kings by Gene Edwards - Pretty sure every Christian should read this. Great book on living under authority.
Black, Red, and White by Ted dekker - Changes my life every time.
A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis - One of my favorites by Clive. One of the most honest books I've ever read.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers - I know, I know...it's a girl's book. But I read it and it changed the way I think about Jesus and what it means to follow Him.
Any classic in the arena of 1200 pages - The hours that I devoted to The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre dumas were well worth it. Makes me feel smarter and more accomplished. People really knew how to write back then.
wasted by marya hornbacher and prozac nation by elizabeth wurtzel-for me they both really helped me through the fact that i don't know what's going on in my head most of the time. for people who do know what goes on most of the time, it gives really interesting insight.
the heroin diaries: a year in the life of a shattered rockstar by nikki sixx. this book actually helped me get clean. i also recommend the soundtrack that goes with it. nikki sixx is the bass guitarist of the 80's band motley crue in case you didn't know. and it's his diary from the year he died twice, found god and ultimately kicked heroin. so inspiring.
utopia by thomas moore. it's a classic. so amazing.
and of course my book when i publish it. :D
